Curriculum Update - New Rotation!

Great job on testing guys, the senseis were very impressed with the prowess and effort that was seen from all of our ranks. Lets keep up the great work and make our next rotation even better!

Remember, since we are approaching the end of the year, we will be in a more shorter rotation before you test for your next rank.  In this month of November, we will be testing for our red stripe on the second week and then again for our yellow stripe on the fifth week.  Our material will cover more exciting fundamentals and activites for our lower ranks and some fun jiu-jitsu and muay thai techniques for our advanced ranks... it's sure to be a great rotation!

If you have any questions regarding this rotation or the curriculum listed, feel free to see the senseis or check out our updates on here and on our Facebook page. SEE YOU IN CLASS!

Wushin's Holloween Safety Tips

Wushin Martial Arts’ Halloween Safety Tips
Trick-or-treating can be a very fun activity for both kids and adults alike. To make sure that your night of festivities is a safe one, check out our Halloween safety tips.
-Swords, knives, and similar costume accessories should be short, soft, and flexible.
-Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
-Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
-Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them.
-Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you.
-Always test make-up in a small area first and remove it when you go to bed.
-Look both ways before crossing the street. Use established crosswalks wherever possible.
-Lower your risk for serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact lenses.
-Only walk on sidewalks or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe.
-Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls.
-Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats unless you know the cook well.
-Enter homes only if you're with a trusted adult. Otherwise, stay outside.
-Never walk near lit candles or luminaries. Be sure to wear flame-resistant costumes.
Following these tips is a sure way to make your trick-or-treating experience fun for everyone!

Mushin: Mind of No Mind

‎"Mushin" or "Wushin" is a state into which very highly trained martial artists are said to enter during combat. The term is shortened from "mushin no shin", a zen expression meaning mind of no mind. That is, a mind not fixed or occupied by thought or emotion and thus open to everything.
Mushin is achieved when a fighter feels no anger, fear or ego during combat. There is an absence of discursive thought, and so the fighter is totally free to act and react towards an opponent without hesitation. At this point, a person relies not on what they think should be the next move, but what is felt intuitively.
